Dog Lazy? Try Sunnies

Older dogs may soon be wearing sunglasses - for purely medical reasons, of course.
Dr Craig Fischer, an animal ophthalmology expert from Florida in the United States, said yesterday that the pupils of older dogs and cats were less elastic and harder to constrict, thus causing eye discomfort in bright sun. He told the Australian Veterinary Association conference that health problems could arise if animals were reluctant to go outside and exercise because of this.
"We now prescribe sunglasses," he said. "They are attached to a little hat which goes on the head." He said a number of Florida dogs were quite happy with the sunglasses.
